All you need to know to help and advise clients

Did you know that simply by using their government-funded mobility allowance your clients can get a new car, powered wheelchair or scooter?

Over 550,000 disabled people currently use the Motability Scheme and 95% of them would recommend it to their friends. A further 1.3 million are eligible to join but have not taken advantage of doing so, simply because they may be unaware that they can.  So, as a trusted adviser to the public, we need your help to make information about the Scheme more widely available.

The Scheme is open to anyone who receives either the Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance or the War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement. Customers simply exchange their allowance for a worry-free mobility package, including:

  • Car, powered wheelchair or scooter
  • Insurance
  • Servicing
  • Tyres
  • Breakdown cover
  • Adaptations and wheelchair accessible vehicles are also available.

See How the Car Scheme works or How the Powered Wheelchair and Scooter Scheme works for more information.
