Order your car
You can start applying online. Once you’ve had a test drive and you’ve found a car you like, visit a Motability Scheme dealer and they’ll order it for you.
Place your order
Your Motability Scheme dealer will place the order for you at the dealer. If you already started applying online, this will save you time at the dealer.
Remember, you need to have at least 12 months left on your allowance if you're applying to join the Scheme.
Did you know your acceptance letter arrives about two weeks later, with your Personal Identification Number (PIN) and Contract Hire Terms and Conditions? Create an online account(opens in a new window) to help keep your PIN safe and track your order.
If you apply at the dealer, you’ll need to bring:
- A UK passport or driving licence for the appointee or customer applying
- Know the National Insurance number (NINO) or Customer Reference Number (CRN) of the person receiving the allowance
- Driving licences for all drivers and details of any claims history
- Your driver declaration (if the driver is not there)
- Your grant award letter (if applicable)
- A Driver Fair Processing Declaration Form
If you applied online, you only need to bring:
- A UK passport or driving licence for the appointee or customer applying
- Know the National Insurance number (NINO) or Customer Reference Number (CRN) of the person receiving the allowance
You could lease a lightweight wheelchair with your car
If you already use a wheelchair, but you’d benefit from having a second, you could get a lightweight wheelchair to use along with your car.
