WAV stands for Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle. This means you can travel in the vehicle while seat in your wheelchair

Your worry-free lease package

You’ll get a full package. We’ll cover your insurance, servicing and breakdown. If you choose a car or Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle, we’ll cover your MOTs too. If you choose a scooter or powered wheelchair, we’ll cover your maintenance instead.

We'll arrange your insurance for you

Together with Direct Line Motability (DLM), we’ll arrange this for you. You can add up to three drivers and can change these at any time.

If you’re involved in an accident, you should report it to DLM as soon as possible and register a claim. You can do this online in the 'Insurance' section of your Motability Scheme online account.

We'll keep your car running perfectly

We'll cover your servicing and routine repair costs

We’ll cover your regular services and routine repairs, to keep your car running perfectly.

This means the cost of each service and any routine repairs.

That includes checks on the engine oil and cooling system, windscreen washer fluid, lights, and tyre tread and pressure.

Servicing will either be at set times during your lease agreement or when you’ve driven your car a certain number of miles.

If you have adaptations fitted in your car, your installer will let you know if these need regular maintenance. If they do, we’ll cover this too.

The latest car means the latest tech. Remember, you'll get more than a brand-new car and our worry-free package. You'll get to enjoy all the latest features and tech too.

We'll cover the cost of your MOTs

We’ll cover the cost of your MOT checks, to make sure your car meets the current road safety and environmental standards.

These are every three years, so if you have a three-year lease, your dealer will contact you towards the end of your lease to organise this.

We'll give you breakdown cover

We’ll give you RAC breakdown cover for any journey in the UK, and in Europe, as long as you ask the RAC for this when you contact them to ask for a VE103, so you can travel with peace of mind.

If your Scheme car breaks down or will not start, call RAC Motability Assist on 0800 731 1173. They’ll aim to get someone out to you within 45 minutes.

Or you can download the myRAC app. It's the easiest way to report your breakdown. Even if you’re not sure where you are, report it using the app and the RAC will know exactly where to find you. It has other helpful features too, like a route planner, vehicle maintenance reminders, news and advice.

See how you can and cannot use your vehicle

Make sure you understand how you can and cannot use your car before you start your lease.

We'll arrange your tax for you

Unless you decide to pay your vehicle tax yourself or you live on the Isle of Man, we’ll arrange it for you. You will not need to do anything.

If you live in Great Britain or Northern Ireland

When you get your new vehicle, it’ll already be taxed for the first year, then we’ll renew it for you each year of your lease.

If you live on the Isle of Man

We’ll tax your vehicle for your first year, but you’ll need to renew it each year after that.

If you decide to pay your own tax

Some people find it’s best to keep their disability exemption on a private vehicle and pay for their Scheme vehicle tax themselves. Let your dealer know when you apply or call our customer services team on 0300 456 4566 if you decide during your lease.

Speak to a dealer

You can start applying online. Then visit a Motability Scheme dealer and they’ll order your car for you.
