We worked these out based on data from different sources, like OfGem and the RAC.

Here’s how we worked each figure out:

Electric

  • Home charging cost: price cap tariff (OfGem)
  • Home charging off-peak cost: typical off-peak tariff, usually (MoneySavingExpert)
  • Public charging cost: average rapid charging cost (RAC)
  • Range (city and motorway driving, combined WLTP
  • Time to charge using a 100kW rapid charger (PEUGEOT)

Petrol

  • Full tank of petrol: the average price of petrol (the RAC)
  • Miles per gallon: 52.5 (WLTP)
